WindowSKIN PAW55 FAQs

Is WindowSKIN the same as any other peelable or strippable protective coating?

ABSOLUTELY NOT!
WindowSKIN® is the most advanced product for window protection in the world!

WindowSKIN® has been used in Australia since 1992 and since then, New Zealand, Hong Kong, China, Japan, Singapore, USA, South Africa, Russia, England and the Middle East.

WindowSKIN® is the only product that can last up to 2 years external exposure.
WindowSKIN® is the only product that can be applied in near freezing temperatures.
WindowSKIN® is the only product that can withstand exposure down to Minus 10 Degrees Celsius.
WindowSKIN® has received many national and international awards and accolades.

Any statements made by competitors claiming to have a superior product is FALSE, for the simple reason that if there were a better value product in existence we would buy it and use it instead of WindowSKIN®.

Do you make the WindowSKIN

Although we develop, create, and continually improve our peelable coating range we do not make the products. We outsource the production of peelable coatings to a production specialist that uses the latest manufacturing techniques and is able to meet our strict quality and consistency requirements. Unlike some competitors that hand measure and mix their own products to produce poor quality, inconsistent and unreliable products.

Can WindowSKIN be sprayed?

Yes, however it is NOT RECOMMENDED for window protection for the following reasons.
1) Due to the fact that it is not practical to cover the entire window masking is required to avoid overspray (overspray is very difficult to remove).
2) Rolling WindowSKIN™ onto the window allows the applicator more control over thickness as he can 'work' PAW55 to spread evenly.

Do I have to use a professional applicator or can I apply WindowSKIN™ myself?

We highly recommend that wherever possible you use the services of a professional applicator. It has been our disturbing experience that only 1% of customers applying WindowSKIN™ themselves get it right. Note: Incorrect application of WindowSKIN™ can increase removal time by up to ten times.

What 's the difference in cost between using a franchisee and applying WindowSKIN® myself ?

Typically the cost of buying WindowSKIN™ is about 75% of the total supply and install cost. That is to do a $300 job yourself it would cost you $225 plus your own labour. The other factors to consider is that if applied by us the application, product and peelability are all guaranteed, and when you DIY there are NO Guarantees.

Can WindowSKIN by used to protect coated metal frames

YES, however WindowSKIN™ is designed to protect large flat uninterrupted surfaces, whereas frames are in narrow widths and have multiple corners, folds, crevices, grooves and channels. Therefore we typically protect only high visual, high risk areas including the upper face of sills and transoms, and the outermost face of frame sides. The more frame protected the more it will cost to apply and the more time it will take to remove.

Can I use WindowSKIN™ to protect my vehicle?

Definitely not!. WindowSKIN if applied to vehicle paintwork will chemically bond to the paintwork and will not be able to be removed. ScratchZerø / PAW Industries has specifically developed a product for motor-vehicles, refer www.autoskin.com.au

What surfaces can I protect with WindowSKIN?

Almost any non-porous non-acrylic surface can be protected using WindowSKIN, refer to 'Uses' for a current list of approved surfaces. If unsure test a small inconspicuous area by applying, leave for 24 hours and then if it peels off and you are satisfied with the result then this surface should be suitable.

WindowSKIN looks and smells just like PVA, Aquadhere etc. - is it the similar?

Absolutely not! - WindowSKIN is a peelable membrane and is designed to be removed, PVA etc is a glue and is designed to never be removed. WindowSKIN's smell is an added masking agent similar (but not the same) as those used in PVA etc.

Isn't WindowSKIN the same product that was around years ago?

WindowSKIN™ is not the same product bought out years ago. Earlier products were either solvent based or latex based and were not designed for window protection - they failed miserably. Protect-A-Window / ScratchZerø has been operating since 1992 and in that time it has focused constantly on developing its window protection products and procedures. Its current products and application procedures are world firsts and have been successfully used in Australia and throughout the world for many years.

How does WindowSKIN compare to oil sprays such as WD40 and glue based plastic protection?

For a complete comparison check out the Comparison Table. Firstly oils such as WD40 should never be used as they reduce the life of a window by approximately 80% and damage caused by oil is not covered under warranty. Secondly there are many types of plastic protection on the market some cheap and ineffective some expensive and ineffective - you choose!

I notice your removal procedure stated water assists removal - does this mean it will come off in the rain?

No. WindowSKIN will turn white when wet but it will not come off unless peeled.

Why does WindowSKIN turn white?

WindowSKIN is water-based and when the product is wet it will turn white. It becomes clear again once dry.
